I made it to the gym!
It’s a start January 24, Today I made it to the gym for the first time in 2023! It was not a great workout or anything to write home about but I did make it across the threshold and managed a short workout. It remains to be seen how I feel tomorrow. I’m done with Covid but I’m not entirely sure it is done with me. In the three weeks since I tested positive my biggest issues have been extreme fatigue and awful headaches. The headaches have almost disappeared, and I’m getting my energy back slowly. I’ve gone for some walks on the beach which are wonderful but I have…

Easing into the New Year!
New Year, New resolutions, that’s usually the case, but no, not me, I had decided to “ease into the New Year” and not make any lists. resolutions etc. I spent the 1st recovering from our long trip back from Ireland. (Seriously Hawaii is a LONG way from home.) I figured I’d wait a week or so before deciding what I wanted for 2023, allow myself to ease into the New Year and evaluate old goals and see what habits had stuck around. Monday I was still pretty beat, it seemed like the older I get the longer it takes to adjust to the time difference. Roll on Tuesday, you’ve guessed…

Bog Braon don tSeanduine
Amhrán na Seachtaine – Song of the Week “Bog Braon don tSeanduine” Why a song for the week? Well, I was refraining from making goals and trying to just ease into the New Year spending some time contemplating what I really wanted to do this year, and by that, I mean what I want to achieve/accomplish this year. I just can’t get away from that goal-oriented mindset, and after almost 40 years in the classroom, laying out curriculum and making schedules and lesson plans, I have it down. I know what I want to do, it’s just finding the time to fit it all in and being disciplined enough to…

2023 – Happy New Year!
Maidin mhaith agus Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh go léir. Good morning and Happy New Year everyone! A day late and a dollar short as they say. I have not posted here in a while, life and darn it, SEO. I have several posts written and ready to post but I always seem to get hung up on SEO optimization during the final edit. Honestly, it has intimidated me and prevented me from sharing quite a few posts, hence my long silence. I have finally decided to just post and not worry about it at all. If my posts get lost out there so be it. If someone is meant to…

Raised Beds with the Clueless Gardener
I’ve always been interested in gardening. As a kid growing up in Ireland I pestered my dad to let me dig up a small section of his beloved lawn and plant lettuces, carrots, and radishes. When we bought our house last fall, I knew I wanted some raised garden beds. The house was beautifully landscaped with shrubs, palms, etc but there was no vegetable garden. I’d grown tomatoes, and some greens in Oregon but was clueless as to what would grow well here in Hawaii and what pests and diseases I would encounter. I figured I had nothing to lose and for sure it would be a learning experience …

A New Beginning
Aloha friends, fellow Yogis, Gaeilgeoirs, and those of you who just stopped by my blog, I hope this finds you all keeping well. I’ve made many attempts to write this letter/blog post but just have not been able to get it done. I made the mistake of taking a course on blogging and all the technical stuff just got too overwhelming. I began to overthink it. So here goes, not paying attention to SEO or optimizing, or any of it, just getting an update out there and hopefully in the future I will be able to navigate the technical stuff a little better now that life is settling down again.…

Aloha! Hau’oli makahiki hou!
Happy New Year or should it be Happy Valentine’s Day? Either way it has been a while since I posted here. I’ve sat down and made several attempts to write but scratched it every time. A lot has happened since I last posted in November! We bought a house! We moved! We enjoyed visits from both our boys. I planted a garden. We journeyed to Oregon to sort through the storage unit and ship our belongings to Hawaii. As you can see, a busy time. The shipping container arrived in Honolulu and was delivered last week. We unloaded it in six and a half…
