2023 – Happy New Year!
Maidin mhaith agus Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh go léir. Good morning and Happy New Year everyone!
A day late and a dollar short as they say. I have not posted here in a while, life and darn it, SEO. I have several posts written and ready to post but I always seem to get hung up on SEO optimization during the final edit. Honestly, it has intimidated me and prevented me from sharing quite a few posts, hence my long silence. I have finally decided to just post and not worry about it at all. If my posts get lost out there so be it. If someone is meant to see them, they will.
A lot has happened since I last checked in. We have been in our new home for a year, we finally made it back to Oregon, emptied the storage locker, and shipped our belongings to Hawaii. We have been settling in, unpacking bit by bit, and making the house our home. It’s a work in progress, Martha Stewart has no cause to worry!
We were very fortunate to have each of the boys come visit us during the year at different times, it is always great to see them. I managed a trip home to Ireland in September and for the first time since 1985, got to return for Christmas. It was cold but wonderful to share the holidays with family. One of our sons managed to join us there as he is currently stationed in Italy.
We arrived back in Hawaii on New Year’s Eve, just in time to enjoy the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks. I spent yesterday recovering from our journey, 28 hours door to door: a 4 am airport run, three flights, 1.5 hours, 11 hours, and 5.5 hours, and finally a taxi ride home. The long flights took their toll. After a gentle stroll on the beach and a quick New Year’s swim, I spent the rest of the day recovering and catching up on sleep.
I have avoided my usual goal-setting extravaganza and just decided to start the year gently. I do have lots of goals, the usual health, and wellness, exercise, Irish, dance, music, etc but I am refraining from making list at the moment. For now, I just want to ease into the New Year and enjoy the moment without worrying about lengthy “should-do” or “to-do” lists.
The birds are singing and the sun is making an appearance, I am enjoying the day as it wakes up. Hope you have a great day. Bain sult as! Enjoy!
